Alexandra Rose

In this cast iron sculptural work the artist deals with the aftermath of sexual violence. The clothing, and its association to the body, documents the feeling of being used, crumpled, and discarded. The dress is opened from the bottom, baring its insides. Whereas the crotch of the underwear are twisted and exposed. The color blue on the fabric alludes to the sensation of loss, sadness, and memorial. The clothes are also partially rusted to give a feeling of abandonment, and the decay that happens mentally after a traumatic experience.
